Cincinnati Reds Week 6 Pitching Report

Bring a throwback series and your typical pitcher killer in the Boston Red Sox and Colorado Rockies. The Reds traveled to Fenway for the second time in 39 years, hoping to win a game in the 2 game series, but came up empty. The Reds have not won at Fenway since Game 7 of the 1975 World Series.  As for the weekend series, the Reds welcome the hot hitting Colorado Rockies, who had several members in the starting lineups hitting .300 or above .300. Reds won 2 out of 3 in the weekend series.

Starting Pitcher Breakdowns for Week 6

Homer Bailey

April is put in the past and Homer Bailey and can be glad that it is the month of May. Bailey has done well in the month of May and catching with Reds catcher Tucker Barnhart, catching both the May 1st game and this weeks’ Boston game. For Sunday’s game, Bailey had to go deep in the game to save a depleted bullpen who pitched 6 innings the night before.

Mike LeakeMike Leake pitched another game and had offense support, even though he couldn’t help his cause in an American League Ballpark like Fenway Park. Leake actually left the game with a 3-2 lead, till J.J. Hoover managed to blow the lead and win opportunity for Leake.

Johnny Cueto

A well rested Johnny Cueto can go a long way to success in this game. Cueto only pitched one game on Friday against a hot hitting Colorado Rockies team and managed to shut them down.

Alfredo Simon

Maybe the things mentioned about Alfredo Simon will quickly disappear from last week’s Pitching Report. Simon only pitched one game and it was quick and rare. Simon pitched only 3 innings this week and is considered an outlier among other games pitched.

MAY 10TH-COLORADO ROCKIES

The game on Saturday is a complete Outlier.

OUTLIER…How did Saturday’s numbers match?

  • 4.1 IP, innings pitched an OUTLIER
  • 7 H and above OUTLIER
  • 5 R, right at UPPER FENCE (anything above/below FENCE is an OUTLIER)

Overall for this game, an Outlier. Move on to the next start. Every pitcher has one of these games.
