Game 15 (Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Cincinnati Reds)

TEAM THUMBAfter completing the suspended game, which the Pirates won 8-7, the Reds and Pirates gathered for the annual Jackie Robinson Day game. The prediction from Game 14 was a clear indicator that keeping the ball down low will win ballgames at Great American Ballpark. For Gerrit Cole, he was “rocked” from his start, allowing 5 runs to score in 6 innings. That would be Cole’s highest amount of runs allowed in his young career, the last time he allowed that many runs was on August 29th in a 4-0 Loss to the Milwaukee Brewers. As for Mike Leake, he continues to dominate with the arm and bat. Leake struck out 8 in 6 2/3 innings and has kept his ERA below 3.00. Leake in the past 3 starts allowed 7 runs, but had a shutout against what is apparently a good hitting Cardinals team.

LIRIANO-CUETO

PREDICTION IN MINIMUM

FRANCISCO LIRIANO: 7 IP/6 H/3 R/3 BB/6 SO/HR

JOHNNY CUETO: 7.2 IP/6 H/3 R/2 BB/6 SO/HR

PICK: Francisco Liriano and last year was a fluke, but the fluke occurred at PNC Park, this is Great American Ballpark. Liriano doesn’t have appealing stats when it comes to playing in the confines of GABP and  it hurts his status as being a quality pitcher. Cueto has been consistent and been keeping the opponents bats very quiet in 2014. For safe measures based on how a pitcher is at a ballpark, Reds 5-4.
