Game 142 (Cincinnati v Los Angeles)

Not much to report regarding the Dodgers, but I know one of my favorite Reds sports bloggers, Nick Kirby, found the win-loss scenario for the Reds facing the Dodgers and the sudden movement of 1st place-2nd place in the National League Central.

As for the Cardinals series, effective, but lost the tiebreaker (St. Louis 11-8), Reds have to be ahead of Cardinals to avoid tiebreaker. For being 3 games back to Pittsburgh, that is huge, but taking care of the Los Angeles Dodgers should give a better scenario of what is upcoming. After the Dodgers series, the Reds will face the Chicago Cubs for the final three of the season (Cincinnati leads 13-3) and finish the week with the final three against Milwaukee (Cincinnati leads 9-7).

For my blog specialty of pitchers, I got the starters line and bullpen line for the 4 GAME SERIES against the St. Louis Cardinals

STARTERS: Mat Latos, Homer Bailey, Bronson Arroyo and Tony Cingrani

  • 28 1/3 IP, 17 H, 7 R (6 ER), 5 BB, 21 SO & HR
  • 1.91 ERA & 0.78 WHIP
  • GRADE: 85.06% (B)

BULLPEN: Manny (Papa) Parra, Aroldis Chapman, Sam LeCure, Zach Duke, J.J. Hoover, Alfredo Simón and Logan Ondrusek

  • 14 2/3 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 5 BB, 15 SO & 2 HR
  • 1.20 ERA & 0.75 WHIP
  • GRADE: 89% (B)

Overall, a great series for the pitching staff.

Now for the starting rotations for the Los Angeles series:

FRIDAY: Chris Capuano (4-7, 4.41 ERA) v Mike Leake (11-6, 3.51 ERA) Fox Sports Ohio

SATURDAY: Zack Grienke (14-3, 2.78 ERA) v Mat Latos (14-5, 2.98 ERA) FOX

SUNDAY: Clayon Kershaw (14-8, 1.89 ERA) v Homer Bailey (10-10, 3.42 ERA) ESPN

Box Score (September 5, 2013) St. Louis at Cincinnati

Game Preview (September 6, 2013) Los Angeles at Cincinnati

Game 1

Chris Capuano: 5 2/3 IP, 8 H, 2 2B, HR, 4 R, 2 BB & 5 SO

Mike Leake: 4 1/3 IP, 11 H, 2B, 4 HR, 10 R, 3 BB & 4 SO

Things To Consider

  • Mike Leake has not faced the Dogders since 4th of July 2012, he has not faced Carl Crawford, Yasiel Puig, Adrian Gonzalez, Time Federowicz and Chris Capuano (who are all in the lineup tonight)
  • Win the game and see what happens in St. Louis
