Well, for those harping on Jay Bruce’s struggles and response to a negative tweet, today would be a good day to get out of the slump. The slump might continue today when facing Lance Lynn, 4 plate appearances, 1 groundout and 3 strikeouts. I think people on Twitter believe that athletes are robots, they’re not, they’re humans, what happened in the NLDS last year was human error, not robot error. Simply put it as this, don’t harass the guy if you can’t do it yourself. Chad on Twitter said that Bruce is well ahead of beating Stubbs for strikeouts in a season, Bruce said this to Chad.
Either way, Bruce can handle the slump problem and could be going off in May, like he did in the past two seasons.
Now that Bruce’s situation is taken care of, Homer Bailey wants regain some vengeance today at Busch Stadium against Lance Lynn. Bailey had a rough outing last time in St. Louis, 5 IP, 9 H, and 7 ER, which gave him a 12.60 ERA. Bailey himself owns a 1.00 ERA against other opponents this season.
Lance Lynn: 6 IP, 7 H, 2B, HR, 3 R, 2 BB, 10 SO & SF
Homer Bailey: 5 1/3 IP, 9 H, 2 2B, 1 3B, 2 HR, 4 R, 2 BB & 3 SO
