Game 55 (Pittsburgh v Cincinnati)

Tonight’s matchup features an original NL Central duo of Johnny Cueto and Wandy Rodriguez. Rodriguez has great success in taking Jay Bruce out of the game with a 2-32 BA, so he will play today, which surprisingly doesn’t make sense to use other outfielders.

Prediction:

Johnny Cueto: 6 1/3 IP, 6 H, 2 2B, HR, 2 R, 2 BB & 5 SO

Wandy Rodriguez: 6 1/3 IP, 6 H, 2B, 2 R, 2 BB & 6 SO

Game 53 and 54 (Cleveland v Chicago) “Welcome Back, Mr. Choo”

Now that Stubbs made his return to Cincinnati, Shin-Soo Choo did the same for Cleveland fans. Choo’s departure was left on good terms, he bought an ad in The Plain Dealer thanking Cleveland for the support from fans and the Indians front office. One of the reasons why this trade was so good is that Choo would be able to get his market value to rise and Stubbs would be an asset to a great outfield combo of Michael Bourn and Michael Brantley.

Now for Game 53 Prediction and Recap

Game 51 (Cincinnati v Cleveland) “Welcome Back, Drew Stubbs”

Image

Remember going to Great American Ballpark and listening to Tattoo’s On The Town when Drew Stubbs was a Red? Well, that was his walk-up song and while at the plate, struck out and took a seat, he did that as a league leader in 2011 doing it 205 times. Today, it is Stubbs return to Cincinnati, where he was known for his defense and stealing a bag, if he was lucky to get on base. For this Cleveland Indians team, it added some new players to the lineup like: Michael Bourn, Nick Swisher and Drew Stubbs. These additions might be great for Terry Francona’s club, since they’re like the Reds only 1 1/2 game back from the division leaders.

Today features 2010’s best on the mound of Ubaldo Jimenez and Mike Leake. Jimenez had an impressive first half of 2010 by starting out 15-1 and earning him a start in the 2010 All Star Game in Anaheim, California. Leake, a draft pick from Arizona State in 2009, started out spring training and got a roster spot to the MLB without making an appearance in a minor league game, where most of your Cincinnati Reds came from, oh and he started his first 13 starts with a 5-1 record, before ending his season with an 8-4 record with 24 appearances.

Prediction

Ubaldo Jimenez: 5 IP, 5 H, 2B, 2 R, 3 BB, SO & HBP

Mike Leake: 6 2/3 IP, 5 H, 2 2B, R, 2 BB & 8 SO
