Here come the Cubs, and somewhat keeping pace with the Central. Tonight’s starts a new series for the Reds in the final 3 games of a 10 game homestand. For further explanation why the Reds are still in the basement in my rankings is that they haven’t played enough road games for what I call ‘Clutch wins’ to close a possible rally. Cincinnati (23) will need to play an aggressive series against the Cubs so they can be sharp against the Nationals (13) and Cardinals (8) on the road, we’ll see how ‘clutch’ they’re when they open a 10 game road series with Washington, St. Louis and the Chicago Cubs. Here are the prediction stat line for Mike Leake and Travis Wood.
Mike Leake: 5 1/3 IP, 8 hits, 2 doubles, 3 runs, 2 walks, 3 strikes and a hit-by-pitch
Travis Wood: 5 2/3 IP, 7 hits, 2 doubles, 2 home runs, 5 runs, 1 walk, 5 strikeouts and 2 hit by pitches.
Wood has not faced Joey Votto, who is on a nice hot streak in the 10 game homestand.
